About Explore Mesopotamia
Explore Mesopotamia LLC (formerly Kurdistan Iraq Tours) is the first inwardly focused tour company in the region with destinations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, South Iraq, and soon in Turkey and Iran. We are a custom company that crafts tours for every client's individual needs. Explore Mesopotamia is primarily a B-to-B company that hopes to connect with those whose clients are genuinely intrepid travelers and lovers of history and adventure.
Iraq is very different from how it is often portrayed in the media, and those who visit the region are genuinely surprised by the warm welcome they receive from the Iraqi people. They are equally amazed as our internationally trained guides not only introduce them to the 'Cradle of Civilization' but reveal "the history between the lines." For us, Iraq is more than old stones and ruins of famous sites such as Babylon (palace of Nebuchadnezzar), Ur (birthplace of Abraham), and Uruk (creator of the first written language) - it is the innovative people and stories that made the world what it is today.
Our company has developed strong relationships with all levels of society. This includes officials at the highest levels of government who fully support our tours and do their utmost to make our journeys smooth and safe. We have continuously operated despite many obstacles as we pioneered regional tourism. Explore Mesopotamia published the only comprehensive Guide to Kurdistan. We are preparing to publish a two-volume, full-color, 1000-page 'Guide to the Federal Republic of Iraq— the first of its kind.
Explore Mesopotamia represents several of the largest and most successful Adventure Travel Companies in the world—from the UK and USA to China and Australia. We are always looking for partners who are ready to explore pioneer destinations filled with diverse cultures (such as the mysterious Yezidis and the Marsh Arabs), more historical and archaeological sites than any region in the world, and breathtaking scenery, including year-round snow-covered mountains, lakes, and rivers. At any time of the year, Iraq is a place for incredible adventures

Testimony:
"For Haana, Our fearless guide and protector, Like so many others, I cannot thank you enough for the superb work you did for us every day. You and your effervescent personality made the trip wonderful. You are always well-informed, artistically articulate, and thoughtful. Throughout it all, you are tirelessly conscientious. That’s the trademark of a great person. In your presentations, you constantly spoke and acted with an artistic flair. You think this is normal because that is the way you are gifted by nature. But for the rest of us it is a rare treat in a tour company, and I want to let you know how much we all appreciate it. All too often many people will see artistic gems like you but won’t think to mention it. But even for all of these qualities, you always have something more. Despite all the tragedies, you, your family, and people have endured you smile through it all with a heart and vision of something much bigger. You constantly demonstrated a genuine depth of character of someone far beyond your age."

Unfortunately, the Guide to Kurdistan is no longer available. Only a few of the 20,000 copies originally printed remain.
The exciting news is that we are introducing two unique guides-a revised edition of the Kurdistan Guide and the first ever full-color Guide to the Republic of Iraq. These two volumes will not only cover more than 500 archeological sites but also delve into the fascinating cultures of Iraq, such as the Yezidis and the Marsh Arabs.
The guides will be published initially in three languages, along with an electronic version, and will feature the latest mapping technology and other innovative features. While there are a few smaller guides to the region, none have ever presented Iraq in the manner in which these elegant two-volume guides will.
Upon completion, the Guides will be launched in several locations worldwide, including London, Washington DC, and locally in Erbil and Baghdad, Iraq. The launches will be coordinated with a public relations campaign aimed at bringing the wonders of Iraq to the world and the world to the wonders of Iraq.
The new set of Guides will be published in late 2025. Much of the production work has been completed, and we are now at a crucial stage of obtaining sponsors for this approximately two million USD project.
